Best Travel Card Deals for October 2026

What are the Best Travel Credit Cards to use for October, 2026 to maximize your preplanned wedding expenses and get you a Free/Cheap Honeymoon?

Best Travel Card Deals for October 2026

If you already have a honeymoon, vacation, or other big expense planned, October 2026 has some unusually strong travel credit card offers. The key is to use these bonuses for spending you were already going to do — not to create thousands of dollars in new spending just to earn points.

That distinction is important. A 75,000-mile bonus can be a fantastic deal when you're putting planned wedding expenses, insurance, home improvements, or everyday purchases on the card and then paying the balance. It's a terrible deal if earning the bonus causes you to buy things you didn't need or carry a balance at a high interest rate.

Here are some of the travel card offers worth looking at as we head into October.

#1: Capital One Venture Rewards — Our Top Pick

The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card is the standout offer right now.

New eligible cardholders can currently earn 75,000 bonus miles after spending $4,000 within the first three months. Even better, Capital One is offering a limited-time $300 Capital One Travel Stays credit for eligible new Venture cardholders. Capital One describes the combined offer as more than $1,000 in travel value. The card has a $95 annual fee.

What makes Venture particularly attractive is its simplicity. You earn 2X miles on every purchase, so you don't have to remember a complicated list of spending categories. You can also earn 5X on eligible hotels, vacation rentals and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel.

For a couple already spending several thousand dollars on wedding deposits, catering, a photographer, furniture, moving expenses or another planned expense, that $4,000 requirement may be achievable without changing the household budget.

That's exactly how we think travel rewards should be used: turn money you were already going to spend into travel.

Delta SkyMiles Gold American Express — Still One to Watch

For travelers who regularly fly Delta, the Delta SkyMiles Gold American Express Card remains worth considering.

Unlike a general travel card, Delta miles are especially useful if you already know you're likely to fly Delta. That can make the card attractive for couples planning a honeymoon or family trip where airfare will be one of the largest expenses.

Delta's American Express cards can also include airline-specific benefits that general travel cards don't provide. Because American Express frequently changes its welcome offers — and sometimes displays different offers to different applicants — check the current offer before applying.

This is also a good example of why the biggest points number isn't automatically the best deal. 75,000 flexible miles and 75,000 airline miles aren't necessarily equal. Where you're going and which airline you'll actually use matter.

Marriott Bonvoy Boundless — A Strong Hotel Option

If hotels are going to be the expensive part of your trip, don't overlook the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card from Chase.

The current offer is 3 Free Night Awards after $3,000 in eligible purchases during the first three months. Each award can be redeemed for a one-night stay at participating Marriott Bonvoy properties with a redemption level of up to 50,000 points per night. The card currently has a $95 annual fee.

There's another interesting perk right now. New eligible cardmembers can receive up to $100 in statement credits on qualifying airline purchases under Chase's current promotional offer.

You also receive a Free Night Award after each account anniversary, valid at eligible properties requiring up to 35,000 points, subject to Marriott's terms.

For someone planning a honeymoon where the hotel is a major portion of the budget, three free-night certificates can potentially knock a meaningful amount off the trip.

Want Premium Travel Perks? Look at Capital One Venture X

For travelers willing to pay a higher annual fee in exchange for premium benefits, the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card deserves a look.

The current welcome bonus is 75,000 miles after spending $4,000 within three months. The card has a $395 annual fee, but it also provides a $300 annual Capital One Travel credit and 10,000 anniversary bonus miles each year beginning with your first anniversary.

Venture X also offers airport lounge access for the primary cardholder, including Capital One Lounges and participating Priority Pass lounges after enrollment.

This isn't a card we'd choose just because it's "premium." The benefits only matter if you'll actually use them. But frequent travelers who can make use of the annual travel credit and lounge access may find the higher annual fee easier to justify.

Chase Sapphire Reserve — Huge Bonus, Huge Annual Fee

The Chase Sapphire Reserve is another premium option with a very large current welcome offer.

Chase is advertising 100,000 bonus points after spending $6,000 in the first three months. The annual fee is now $795, so this is definitely not a card to choose based solely on the size of the welcome bonus.

For someone who travels frequently and can take advantage of enough of the card's travel credits and premium benefits, it may make sense. For an occasional traveler who won't use those perks, a lower-fee card may provide better practical value.

Don't Want an Annual Fee? You Still Have Options

You don't have to pay hundreds of dollars a year to start earning travel rewards.

One straightforward option is the Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card. It currently has no annual fee and offers 20,000 bonus miles after spending $500 during the first three months. Cardholders earn 1.25X miles on everyday purchases and 5X on eligible hotels, vacation rentals, rental cars and activities booked through Capital One Travel.

The smaller spending requirement can actually be an advantage. If you normally spend $500 relatively quickly but would struggle to responsibly reach a $4,000 or $6,000 requirement, taking a smaller bonus is much smarter than overspending for a bigger one.

There are also no-annual-fee cash-back cards that can indirectly help fund a vacation. Travel rewards aren't only about collecting airline miles. Money you don't spend on the trip is money saved.

Which Card Should You Choose?

Start with your trip rather than the credit card.

If you want maximum flexibility, Capital One Venture is particularly interesting right now because of the combination of 75,000 miles and the limited-time $300 stays credit.

If you're already a Delta flyer, look closely at the current Delta SkyMiles Gold American Express offer. If hotels are your biggest concern, Marriott Bonvoy Boundless gives you a different way to attack the cost of the trip. And if you travel enough to value lounges and annual travel credits, premium cards such as Venture X and Chase Sapphire Reserve are worth comparing.

But there is one rule we wouldn't break for any of them.

Never Spend More Just to Earn the Bonus

Welcome bonuses work best when the required spending replaces spending you already had planned.

If you have $4,000 in wedding expenses coming up anyway, earning a travel bonus from those purchases can be incredibly useful. If you have to invent $4,000 worth of purchases to qualify, you're not getting a free vacation — you're buying one in a very expensive way.

Plan the expense first. Pick the card second.

And whenever possible, pay your balance in full. Credit card interest can quickly erase the value of miles and points.

That's especially important for couples using the IDoLetsGo strategy. The goal isn't to become a bigger spender. The goal is to get more travel from the money you're already spending.
